Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a diagnostic procedure that uses near-infrared light to create images of the inside of the coronary arteries. The technique delivers very high-resolution images.

A beam of light directed at the artery gets reflected & scattered
Scattered light causes glare, which OCT filters off
Small amounts of reflected light that does not get scattered can be detected
Used to form the image of coronary artery
Cardiogists can see detailed inside view of artery
